(Danville, VA) – Hazardous travel and tree limbs weren’t the only damage thanks to the fast moving winter storm that moved through our area Sunday.

Danville’s Carrington Pavilion sustained major damage to the canopy above the covered seats and stage area.  Having stood up to storms over the past 16 years the canopy had shown no previous issues.

The City’s Parks and Recreation office has already reached out to the manufacturer to look into options and as the snow melts away officials can get a better idea of the true extent of the damage.

There are no events scheduled until well into the spring and while there is no timeline for repair, the director of Parks and Recreation Bill Sgrinia says that “A lot of people have experience coming here, have had good times here. It’s a nice showpiece for the community so we look forward to getting it back up into action and getting it fixed.”
