(Danville, Va.) — A winter storm that covered parts of the Midwest and Northeast in snow this weekend has manifested into a bitter freeze. The National Weather Service says temperatures across the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic will drop 10 to 20 degrees below average Monday, with wind chills near 40 below zero hitting the Northeast.

It won’t be much better here on the Southside. While we were spared the snow and ice, a Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect through noon today. 22 mph wind gusts will make it feel like it’s below zero outside. The National Weather Service says you should avoid prolonged exposure to the cold.
