(Danville, Va.) — Some residents in Forest Hills missed the Super Bowl after a traffic accident left about 500 Danville Utilities customers without power Sunday afternoon. Electricity wasn’t restored to some until just before midnight.

The wreck happened on Memorial Drive near the former Dan River executive building and damaged a transmission pole.

Residents and businesses along West Main Street in the Ballou Park area were left in the dark, along with parts of Memorial Drive, Piedmont Drive and Westover Drive in the Sandy Shores area.

Other areas served by the Schoolfield substation were not affected by the outage.
