(Danville, Va.) — Danville Police were walking and talking with neighbors in the 300 block of Virginia Avenue Monday, following a knife attack in the usually quiet neighborhood.

The community walk was designed to allay fears and to reassure residents that police are addressing the situation.

A man was stabbed Saturday night during a home invasion and robbery. Danville Police Department Lt. Richard Chivvis said this was a targeted attack and that the two intruders got away with money.  The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition and no arrests have been made.

The attack comes on the heels of an April 21 incident in the same neighborhood. A late night house party ended with shots fired into the air and four arrests.

Neighbors say they welcome the increased police presence in the area.
