GRETNA, Va. – One man is recovering and another has been charged in a Sunday morning shooting.

60-year-old Michael Randolph Vaughn of Chatham is being held without bond in the Pittsylvania County Jail on a felonious wounding charge.

Investigators say he shot a man in Gretna early Sunday. Officers responded to a call at the 8000 block of West Gretna Road about 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man had been shot. They arrived to find a victim lying on the side of the road bleeding from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

The victim, whose name was not released, was airlifted to Carilion in Roanoke and remains in stable condition.

Vaughan was arrested at the scene.
