Danville, Va. – A suspect has been charged with arson following a fire that destroyed a vacant home on Farrar Street.

The Danville Fire Department arrived at the scene of the small, two-story house fire at 115 Farrar Street around 7:00 p.m. Monday.

The home was fully involved when the first units arrived. Firefighters from three stations fought the blaze and had the fire under control in about 45 minutes.

The Fire Marshal’s office has determined that the fire was deliberately set. A suspect was arrested on the scene and has been charged with arson. The individual’s name has not been released.

18 firefighters were on the scene for about four hours.
