PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – The Tampa Bay Rays tweeted support for a player who was married to one of the victims of Tuesday’s triple murder in Pittsylvania County and canceled a game after the news broke.

The Rays tweeted “earlier today we learned that Blake Bivens, a pitcher with our AA affiliate, the Montgomery Biscuits, suffered a terrible family tragedy in southern Virginia.” The victims were reportedly his wife, daughter and mother-in-law.

ESPN baseball writer Jeff Passan tweeted that the wife and child of Tampa Bay Rays minor league pitcher Blake Bivens were among those killed in Tuesday’s triple homicide in Keeling.

Bivens grew up in nearby Sutherlin.
