MARTINSVILLE, Va. – A 62-year-old woman has been charged after an infant was found in a hot car outside a Martinsville Walmart. Francis Cabiness Kissee of Martinsville is charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Kissee was arrested hours after the incident.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 11:30 Monday morning  about a baby in a locked car. Deputies arrived four minutes later to find that someone had smashed a window on the car and removed the baby. The child was taken inside the store and was checked by emergency responders. The baby was not injured and surveillance video indicates the child was left in the car for less than ten minutes.

The commonwealth’s attorney and Child Protective Services reviewed the evidence before Kissee was arrested.

She has since been released on a $1,500 unsecured bond.
