PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – The body of a Gretna man who died in a Wednesday night fire has been sent to the State Medical Examiner for positive identification.

Gretna firefighters were dispatched to 180 Blue Ridge Drive after a neighbor heard an explosion and spotted flames coming from the single-wide mobile home.

Firefighters responded shortly after 9 p.m. and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the trailer. Crews were able to bring the flames under control quickly and found the man’s body inside.

No one else was in the residence at the time.

The mobile home was destroyed. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
