DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Police Department is investigating an animal cruelty case involving a cat.

Just before 11 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to A.S. Pugh Roofing Company on North Main St. and spoke with an employee who captured an injured cat in the parking lot. The cat had an arrow lodged in its side when it was found. The arrow entered the right shoulder area and partially exited the left shoulder area.

The Danville Area Humane Society was contacted and arranged for the cat to be treated at Animal Medical Center where it underwent surgery to have the arrow removed. It will remain at the clinic for a couple of days while it recovers.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Danville Area Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this incident. In addition, anyone who submits information to Crime Stoppers at 434-793-0000 or through CARE is eligible for a second reward.
