Chicken Dinner

The American Legion Auxiliary Dan River Unit 1097 will hold a Dinner featuring Chicken Breast with Special Sauce on Friday, April 28th at the Post at 17 Fairfield Avenue.  The event will take place from 5:30pm - until.    The cost of the dinner is $7, eat-in or take-out.  The meal includes chicken breast with special sauce, green beans, potatoes, coleslaw, dessert, beverage and coffee / tea.    Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the American Legion Auxiliary programs for the Veterans, children, and community.   For more info, call 434-793-7531.

Bluegrass BBQ

Danville Wine Festival

Enjoy a day of fun, food, live entertainment and wonderful wines at the Knights of Columbus 16th annual Danville Wine Festival.   Saturday, April 29th, sample wines from ten Virginia wineries and hear live music by Norman Aquilo and headliners - the Legendz Tribute Band.    Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.    The event takes place at the Community Market on Craghead Street in historic downtown Danville.   More info, call 434-835-4949.

Find Your Roots Geneology Event

History United will have a community history and geneology event, "Finding Our Roots," which will be held on Saturday, May 6th, from noon 'til 4 at the Reid Street Gallery in Chatham.    The event will feature one-on-one consultations with professional and local genealogists and librarians, a keynote at 3pm by historian Lynn Rainville, author of Hidden Hidden History:  African American Cemeteries in Central Virginia, and will conclude with a FREE Ancestry.com DNA kit giveaway.   Registration preferred online on Eventbrite.

Heritage Festival

The Halifax County Heritage & Antique Machinery Festival will be held May 5-7 at the Halifax County Fairgrounds.    Friday, May 5th:   noon 'til 9pm, Saturday, May 6th:  9am 'til 9pm, and Sunday, May 7th:  1-5pm.   Admission is $5 for adults and children 12 years and older.

No Bills Night

No Bills Night will be Wednesday, May 10th from 6 'til 9pm.   The "No Bills Night" program offers FREE legal consultation where Danville area residents may consult with lawyers during a special call-in program from 6 'til 9pm.   The phone number for the public service event is 434-549-8933.   "No Bills Night," is sponsored by the Young Lawyers' Conference of the Virginia State Bar.  

Cruiz'n In The River District

Saturday, May 13th (and the 2nd Saturday of each month through Saturday, September 9th), 2017 - the Time Machines Car Club will have their "Cruiz'n In The River District" in Historic Downtown Danville at the new location - the parking garage on the 300 block of Bridge Street beside Golden Leaf Bistro.   The event will take place from 5 'til 9pm, where you can enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of the revitalized downtown while cruising your vehciles and meeting new friends!    Food available at Dell'anno's Pizza Kitchen, the Golden Leaf Bistro, Brewed Awakening, and Me's Burgers & Brews.     Go early and shop at Lou's Antique Mall, Rippe's, Chestnut Lane, Vintages by the Dan, and Lizzy Lou Boutique.    Donations will benefit God's Pit Crew.   There will be a 50/50 Drawing and Door Prizes, too.     The Cruise-in is open to ALL vehicles.    More info on Facebook or call 434-728-0617 or 434-250-1405.
