(Danville, Va.) — The Belk store in the Danville Mall was entered by burglars early Wednesday morning and an assortment of merchandise was taken.

Danville Police responded to a report of a break-in at the store on Piedmont Drive at around 4:40 a.m. Police say entry was gained by knocking out exterior and interior doorways. The thief then removed an undisclosed amount of merchandise.

The store’s security cameras caught the break-in on video; however, the tape is not being released at this time.

Police are asking for help in identifying a white male whose image appears on another video as he entered the store during regular business. His image appears on the Danville Police Department’s Facebook page.

Authorities say this man is not a suspect but may have information important to the investigation.
