(Danville, Va.) – Police have charged 20-year-old Christopher Thomas Perkins of Danville with Thursday’s break-in at the Belk department store in Danville Mall.

Perkins was arrested without incident at a home in Danville just hours after the larceny was discovered. Due to the swiftness of the arrest, property stolen during the entry was identified and recovered.

Perkins has been charged breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, obtaining money by false pretense, and receiving stolen property.

Perkins is being held in the Danville City Jail under a $10,000 bond.

Danville Police responded to the store about 4:40 Thursday morning and found someone had forced their way into the store and removed merchandise.

Videos of a suspect were circulated and police credit tips from the public with helping them identify the individual seen in the surveillance photos.
