(Martinsville, Va.) — Storm cleanup continues on the Southside but Monday’s rains caused more flash flooding in Martinsville.

Work crews were called to Cherokee Trail where part of the road collapsed. Tree limbs and debris clogged the pipe system. The water couldn’t pass through and the corrugated metal pipe collapsed, taking a section of pavement with it.

Crews say it should take about two weeks to make repairs, depending on the weather.

In Danville, a concrete bridge collapsed along the Riverwalk Trail, forcing officials to close the section from Dan Daniel Park to Anglers Park. City officials haven’t set a timetable for repairs.
