(Raleigh, N.C.) – A jury has convicted former North Carolina District Attorney Wallace Bradsher of five charges, including three felony counts.

And it’s expected the 52-year old former Person/Caswell County District Attorney will face jail time for the convictions.

Bradsher is one of two district attorneys accused of participating in a criminal scheme to hire each other’s wives and allow one wife to collect $48,000 in unearned pay. The SBI said that in 2016, Cindy Blitzer, wife of Rockingham County District Attorney Craig Blitzer, claimed to be working full-time as an investigator for Bradsher, while she was actually attending nursing school at South University in High Point.

Jurors deliberated 14 hours before finding him guilty in the scheme. The panel must now determine his sentence.
