(Virginia Beach, Va.) – WAKG and WBTM received two first-place awards and placed second in two categories at the Virginia Association of Broadcasters 81st Annual Summer Convention in Virginia Beach.

Barry Richmond received the top honor in the Outstanding Sports category for his NASCAR Noise series on WAKG.

The WBTM News Department received a first-place trophy for Outstanding Newscast and second-place awards for Outstanding Feature Reporting and Best Human Interest Series.

Former Lady Dorothy McAuliffe was named as the VAB’s Distinguished Citizen for her work to provide meals for school children through several initiatives, including Feeding Virginia, a year-long campaign against hunger.

The awards were presented Friday night during a ceremony at the Hilton Beach Oceanfront in Virginia Beach.
