(Pittsylvania County, Va.) — A criminal complaint reveals that the man charged with killing a Brosville woman in her home a week ago confessed to the crime. The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has charged Jason Rigney with first-degree murder in the death of Heather Matherly.

Rigney is said to have confessed to the shooting in a conversation with his sister shortly after Matherly was found dead in her Gray’s Park Road home on the night of September 21st.

Court records show Rigney had been charged earlier in an incident that left Matherly badly beaten.
