(Danville, Va.) – It has been a week since Tropical Storm Michael dumped more than six inches of rain in Danville. Nearly every school in the city suffered some type of flood damage and students are just now returning to class.

Danville Public Schools will all be operating on a two-hour delay on Thursday, except for the Langston Focus School and George Washington High School.

George Washington has significant water damage in the basement, where nearly eight feet of water was left standing after the storm. At Langston, roof repairs must be completed before it’s safe for students to return to class. Both schools are also experiencing electrical issues.
