(Danville, VA) – The City of Danville received an official 12.5 inches of snow marking the largest single day snow fall since the city received 14.2 inches in January of 1996.  It also ranked third in the same category dating back to 1945 when the city received 16.3 inches in a single day.

As crews continue the cleanup efforts throughout the region the City of Danville expects to have all residential streets cleared by late Tuesday afternoon.  Power crews have narrowed outages from 900 at the beginning of yesterday to less than 25 as of Tuesday morning.

Danville City Mayor Alonzo Jones gave credit to the crews working to restore power and clear streets, “I would like to thank citizens for their cooperation during one of the largest snow storms we have had in 22 years,” Jones said today. “I’ve received many calls thanking our staff for the work they are doing in clearing our streets and restoring power. Please continue to be patient as they work to clear the remaining streets and bring power back on for everyone.”
