HALIFAX, Va. – A South Boston man has been jailed following a police chase.

41-year-old Mark William Womack is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Friday morning, charged with reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, felony eluding, obstruction of justice, and assault on a law enforcement officer.

The chase ended when Womack’s car pulled into a private driveway in the town of Halifax. Womack then fled on foot into the woods. A tracking dog was able to locate the suspect, who was arrested following a foot chase.

Investigators say Womack has an extensive criminal record for burglary, grand larceny, destruction of property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of cocaine.
