DANVILLE, Va. – More rain is in the forecast, with the potential for additional flooding. A system that drenched Florida over the Memorial Day weekend will head up the East Coast throughout the day Wednesday, bringing heavy rain by late afternoon. Heavy rain is expected through the early morning hours, leading to the threat of flooding overnight.

More rain is in the forecast for Thursday. And with the ground already saturated from recent downpours, flooding could be an issue around streams, creeks and along the Dan River.

The National Weather Service has Danville and the entire region under a flash flood watch late this afternoon and into the night.
