DANVILLE, Va. – Galileo Magnet High School in Danville is reporting a positive case of COVID-19.

The confirmation came in an email Wednesday from Principal Michelle Ramsey.

The notification does not say whether the person who tested positive is a student or faculty member at Galileo.

Galileo students are just completing their second week of in-person classroom attendance and are assembling on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That schedule will continue.

Ramsey’s message reads as follows:

Galileo was informed today that we had a positive COVID-19 case.  Working alongside Pandemic Coordinator, Mr. Billy Chaney, we have completed contact tracing within Danville Public Schools.  All faculty members and parents of students who were exposed have been notified individually.   In addition, we have notified the Virginia Department of Health.

As always, we will continue to sanitize all areas of the building, use the hygenica machine daily, continue to social distance and wear masks.  Based on the mitigation efforts currently in place, we are confident that this incident is contained and no further action is necessary.  It is safe for our students to return to school tomorrow, Thursday, November 19th.
