DANVILLE, Va. – A lockdown at Averett University has been lifted and a coronavirus vaccination clinic on the North Campus proceeded without interruption.
School security contacted the Danville Police Department at about 11:15 a.m. Saturday after receiving a threatening email. The email made a general threat toward the university and the campus went into lockdown.
Danville Police officers went to both the Main Campus and the North Campus to provide security while investigators began running down the source of the message.
Danville Police maintained a presence at all campuses throughout the afternoon.
The COVID-19 Vaccination Event on Averett’s E. Stuart James Grant North Campus was held as planned.
