The Virginia Department of Education receives a grant worth nearly $1 million from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service for a training program. According to USDA the money will help the department build and retain a strong school nutrition workforce and implement transitional meal pattern standards during the upcoming school year. Virginia is one of eight state agencies around the country to receive funds which totaled approximately $7.1 million.
