Elderly residents in Danville are getting additional real estate tax relief under a measure unanimously passed by the City Council. According to the Register & Bee the maximum allowed income will be increased from $20,000 to $30,000 per year. It will provide a 100% exemption for qualifying applicants with an annual income up to $15,000 and a 50% exemption on income between $15,001 and $30,000. Disabled veterans of all ages also qualify for real estate tax relief, with no income cap or limit on abatement.
