A man was arrested in Eden on Sunday after a homemade explosive device was found in his car. At 3:30 pm on Sunday, officers with the Eden Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet S10 for displaying a fictitious license plate.
After contacting the driver and passenger of the vehicle, an investigation began for illegal narcotics. During a search of the vehicle, Officers located marijuana and a homemade undetonated explosive device. Once the homemade explosive device was located, the Eden Police Department Investigation team was notified and investigators responded to the scene.
The Eden Police Department contacted the Hazardous Devices Team (HDT) from Greensboro Police Department and asked for their assistance. Greensboro’s HDT team arrived on scene and took possession of the explosive device.
After a thorough investigation and consulting with the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office, warrants were obtained for 49-year old Jesse Wayne Price for one count of weapons of mass destruction and one count of possession of marijuana.
