There were multiple fatalities during an accident in Eden on Thursday. According to the City of Eden, At approximately 1:30 pm on Thursday, the City of Eden Police and Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Church Street, Carroll Street and Park Road.

Upon arrival first responders discovered that a City of Eden motor vehicle was involved in an accident where fatalities occurred. The North Carolina State Patrol is investigating the accident.

Six Contractors for Duke Energy were reportedly working on powerlines when a City of Eden dump truck ran a stop sign and hit them

Four people were killed in the accident:

• Douglas Garland Sides, of Summerfield, 72
• Madison Carter, of Sandy Ridge, 42
• William Evans, of Randleman, 35
• Matthew Lockwood, of Winston-Salem, 30

Three people were also injured in the crash. A 24-year-old man is in critical condition and a 34-year-old man is in stable condition.

66-year-old Michael Ray Vernon was the driver of the vehicle, he was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and a stop sign violation. Vernon was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
