The brother of a juvenile that was killed in a shooting in Reidsville has now been charged. According to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, on May 25, at 4:40 pm, deputies responded to 7679 U.S. Highway 29 North in Reidsville, NC, for a reported gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, deputies located 8-year-old Gabriel Sanchez suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Gabriel was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that the firearm involved in the incident was left unsecured and accessible to multiple juveniles in the home, which ultimately resulted in the fatality. After consultation with the Guilford County District Attorney’s Office, 19-year-old Luis Alberto Sanchez, Jr. was charged on Monday, with Misdemeanor Storage of Firearms to Protect Minors.
