Two people were arrested on drug charges in Henry County following the execution of a search warrant on Thursday. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed the search at a residence in the 9100 block of Fairystone Park Highway in Bassett.
The investigation began after the Sheriff’s Office received an increase in calls and complaints concerning suspected drug activity in the area, particularly near the Brookshire Apartments.
When the SWAT Team and investigators arrived to execute the warrant, four individuals, three males and one female, were located and detained while investigators searched the residence and adjoining structures.
As a result of the search, investigators seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia consistent with the distribution of narcotics, and a firearm.
During the search, investigators also located several electronic devices and other evidence that raised additional concerns unrelated to the original narcotics investigation. One of the individuals detained at the residence was identified as a registered sex offender. The electronic devices were seized and will undergo forensic examination as investigators determine whether additional criminal offenses may have occurred.
As a result, 62-year-old Jeral Sunderland Jr and 54-year-old Deidre Chaney were charged with possession of a schedule I or II drug and possession of a schedule I or II drug while in possession of a firearm. Both were given no bond. The investigation remains ongoing.
