FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – A Franklin County man has been jailed after police say he phoned in a phony report about an active shooter near a Wal-Mart in Rocky Mount.
24-year-old Mason Harrison States of Boones Mills, was arrested and charged with making a false report and using a phone to interfere with police operations.
Police responded to the active shooter call and found nothing out of the ordinary.
According to investigators, States was arrested in a wooded area near the store after allegedly calling in the false report. He is held without bond at the Franklin County Jail.
Rocky Mount Police say additional charges are pending.
