CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. – A Danville woman was flown from the scene of a serious accident that left another man dead.
It happened early Saturday morning on Rt. 360 in Charlotte County, less than a mile west of Route 710.
A 2006 Toyota Camry was traveling west on Route 360 at a high rate of speed when it ran off the left side of the road. The driver over-corrected, which caused the car to run off the right side of the road, strike an embankment and overturn.
The driver, a Danville woman, was flown to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment of serious injuries.
There were three passengers in the vehicle. One, 25-year-old Sean Blake Jackson Thompson, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene. A second passenger, a Fredericksburg woman, was also flown to VCU for treatment of serious injuries. The third passenger, a Danville man, was treated at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital for minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
