A father and stepmother were arrested after a child was found dead in Franklin County on Saturday. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 6 pm on Saturday to a call regarding an unconscious and unresponsive child.
Emergency responders arrived at a residence located in the 100 block of Circle View Street in Rocky Mount, where they discovered an 8-year-old child who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Following a thorough investigation, both the father and stepmother of the child were arrested.
๐๐ข๐๐ก๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง, 46, of Rocky Mount, has been charged with one felony count of Child Abuse and Neglect, resulting in Serious Injury. ๐๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง, 32, also of Rocky Mount, has been charged with one felony count of Child Abuse and Neglect, resulting in Serious Injury, along with one misdemeanor count of Simple Assault Against a Family Member. Both suspects are currently being held without bond.
The deceased childโs body has been transported to the Medical Examinerโs Office in Roanoke for an autopsy. This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
