(Danville, VA) – Danville and the surrounding area are bracing for more winter weather to start the week. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 1 am December 8th until 1am Tuesday December 9th.
According to Meteorologist William Perry with the National Weather Service office in Blacksburg Danville could see as much as 2 inches as the system moves through. Northern Pittsylvania County could see as much as 4 inches in the highway 40 corridor and towards Altavista. Accumulation totals could vary based on how much rain falls before transitioning to snow as temperatures drop.
Danville Public Works is monitoring the situation. Plows and salt-sand trucks are ready, but crews have not pretreated roads with brine because expected rain would wash it away.
Danville Utilities’ crews are also prepared to respond as needed.
