One person was treated following a structure fire in Danville on Sunday night. The Danville Fire Department responded to the fire at 929 Monument Street at 8:34 pm.
The first arriving unit found a single-story home with moderate smoke showing from the front of the residence. Before entering the structure, fire crews removed three occupants from the front porch of the home to the yard next door.
One occupant was treated for smoke inhalation by the Danville Life Saving Crew (DLSC) unit on scene. Upon entering the home, fire crews encountered heavy smoke conditions and found the kitchen on fire with no extension to the rest of the home.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze quickly, ventilated the smoke, and checked for any extension. The Danville Fire Department was assisted by the Danville Electric Department, Danville Water & Gas, Danville Life Saving Crew, and the Danville Police Department.
The Danville Fire Marshal’s office arrived on scene to investigate, to determine the cause of the fire, which was unattended cooking. There were three occupants that were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
