The City of Danville’s Residential Street Tree Program is now open and ready to help you plant more trees in city neighborhoods. As part of the Tree City USA and Grow In Danville initiatives, the Public Works Department will plant a street tree in front of your home at no cost while funding lasts.
Trees make the community healthier and more beautiful — they improve air quality, boost neighborhood appeal, provide shade, and help support stormwater management and environmental health.
Trees are available on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of one per property. Trees are planted in a public right-of-way, or your front yard.
The City Horticulturist helps you choose the right tree based on your yard size, space, and underground/overhead features. Tree installations will be scheduled in spring & fall. Trees will range from 4–8 feet tall at the time of planting.
This program is funded by the Virginia Trees for Clean Water grant and the City Wide Tree Planting Program, which helps our urban tree canopy to Grow In Danville for future generations. Those interested can fill out the form here.
