
Last night the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors approved rezoning a large piece of land. The Board approved rezoning six parcels of land totaling over 224 acres located near US Highway 29, Main Street & Pocket Road in the Staunton River Election District from Residential Suburban Subdivision District and Agricultural District, to M-2, Industrial District-Heavy Industry, to allow the properties to be used for advanced manufacturing.
Economic Development Director Matt Rowe discussed the type of company that could come to the property.
The site is the former location for Klopman Mills. Chatham-Blairs Supervisor Ken Bowman spoke in favor of the rezoning.
Board Supervisor Robert Tucker said Pittsylvania County needs the jobs the rezoning could bring.
The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors unanimously recommended approval of the rezoning.
