A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect for our area from Saturday morning to Monday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, the main concern is now ice.

Snow could begin on Saturday afternoon in Danville. Snow and sleet are expected before 1 am on Sunday then sleet, possibly mixed with snow and freezing rain between 1 am and 4am, then freezing rain and sleet after 4 am. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

During the day on Sunday freezing rain and sleet are forecasted with the chance of precipitation at 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible. New sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.

On Sunday night, freezing rain and sleet before 10 pm, then freezing rain between 10 pm and 4 am, then a chance of snow and freezing rain after 4 am. Chance of precipitation is 90% with ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
