The Henry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating a disturbing and deeply troubling act of animal cruelty that occurred on December 27, 2025, in the Holloway Drive area of Bassett.

A poodle named Bella was briefly let outside by her owner when multiple gunshots were heard. Minutes later, Bella was discovered suffering from injuries consistent with being shot with birdshot. She was rushed to an emergency veterinary facility, where she underwent multiple procedures and surgeries.

As a result of this appalling criminal act, Bella has lost her eyesight. She is currently recovering at home with her family.

Since December 27, investigators have been working on this case. Investigators have conducted extensive neighborhood canvases, completed numerous interviews, followed up on every lead, reviewed available information, and continue to dedicate time and resources toward identifying those responsible. This has been an ongoing effort, and investigators are not slowing down.
