One person was killed during a crash in Pittsylvania County on Wednesday night. Virginia State Police is investigating the single-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:04 pm on Old Richmond Road, one quarter of a mile from Reeves Road in Pittsylvania County.

A 2000 Lexus RX-300 was traveling east on Old Richmond Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver of the Lexus was identified as Stephen Lee Buergey, 65, of Pittsylvania, Va. He was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
