The National Weather Service in Blacksburg is warning residents in the southside about the possibility of severe storms today. The National Weather Service says there is a moderate or level 4 out of 5 risk for severe storms in Danville as well as Pittsylvania and Halifax Counties today.

Severe storms are possible today. Damaging winds and an isolated tornado are the main threats with large hail also possible.

A Wind Advisory is also in effect from 11 am today to midnight. Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are   expected.
