
Three dogs were rescued from a house fire in Pittsylvania County over the weekend. The Hurt Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire at 7:56 pm on Friday in the 700 Block of Spring St.
Crews encountered high heat and smoke conditions. Offensive fire attack and search operations were initiated.
The crew quickly located three dogs and one guinea pig in the home. However, the guinea pig died from its injuries.
No civilians or firefighters were injured in the fire. The Hurt Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by crews from Gretna, Altavista, Chatham and Renan.
