More information has been released following a car hijacking in Halifax County yesterday. According to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, the ongoing investigation from Wednesday revealed that the victim had been shopping in Danville when the alleged suspects observed her and followed her to her residence on Hackberry Road.
Once she arrived home, the individuals forcibly took control of her vehicle and held her against her will. The suspects then drove the victim back to Danville, taking her to her bank and demanding that she withdraw money.
During this time, the victim was able to discreetly alert the drive-thru teller that she needed help. The teller acted swiftly and professionally, stalling the suspects as long as possible and immediately notifying Danville authorities.
The suspects then fled the area with the victim, traveling toward South Boston. Halifax County E-911 received the alert and notified responding agencies. Units converged at the Highway 58 intersection in Riverdale.
The vehicle was soon located in the Food Lion parking lot by the South Boston Police Department, who immediately notified incoming units. Officers successfully detained both subjects with assistance from deputies of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Both subjects were transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where they are currently being held without bond.
