The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our region from 1 pm today through 7 am on Sunday. Heavy snow is expected with accumulation totals between 4 and 7 inches along with wind gusts as high as 50 mph.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

For Danville, there is a 40% chance of snow after 1 pm this afternoon, with a 60% chance for Friday night. Snow accumulation for Friday is between 1 and 3 inches.

During the day on Saturday there is a 90% chance of precipitation with 2 to 4 inches of snow possible. On Saturday night, snow is likely before 9 pm with a 70% chance of precipitation and 1 to 2 inches of accumulation.
