Here is the situation report for Danville at 7:30 am Monday:

  • A frigid start today gives way to the warmest temperatures in nearly 10 days. It’s 8 degrees now. Sunshine pushes highs to 40 degrees today, with 46 degrees Tuesday and 42 degrees Wednesday.
  • The Temporary Relief & Counseling Center (TRCC) at 625 Shelton St. is operating a 24-hour warming center for any resident or visitor in need of shelter.
  • Public Works crews continued plowing and sanding residential neighborhoods overnight and will continue today. With 700 lane miles citywide, it takes 36 to 48 hours to reach all residential streets. Major thoroughfares and collector streets are in good condition, but because of lingering ice from last weekend’s storm, residential streets will not be clear to pavement until temperatures rise above freezing. Highs of 40 degrees Monday and 46 degrees Tuesday are expected.
  • Danville Transit resumed door-to-door service at 4 a.m. Fixed routes began at 6 a.m., with regular routing on all lines except Route 4 Health Center. Due to road conditions, Route 4 Health Center will not serve Broadnax, Betts, Walters Mill Road, Blaine, Garfield, and Grant streets until later today. Customers can receive service updates by texting dtupdate to 24541.
  • Danville Utilities reports 32 current power outages, affecting 32 customers.
