Tonight the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors took action against a member for breaking the law. The board approved a resolution censuring Staunton River District Supervisor Tim Dudley, after he was caught stealing in November.
Dudley pleaded not guilty to stealing kratom from an Altavista convenience store. He was ordered to pay restitution and complete a shoplifting class. He has also been placed under advisement for 12 months.
The resolution removes Dudley from all Board-appointed boards, committees, and commissions for the rest of his term. A petition has been started to remove Dudley from the board. The petition will be at the Staunton River Memorial Library in Altavista on Thursday from 3:30 to 7 pm. The petition will need at least 212 signatures to be sent to the courts, who could then take action against Dudley.
