An investigation is underway after a shots fired incident at a business in Henry County early Friday morning. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 12:15 AM, the Martinsville Henry County 911 Center received a call for service reporting shots fired at Sportslanes Bowling Center located at 10 Koehler Road in Henry County.

Deputies responded to the location and, upon arrival, located evidence indicating that shots had been fired. A short time later, one individual arrived at SOVAH Health Martinsville with a single gunshot wound to the leg. The individual was subsequently transferred to another medical facility for further treatment. The injury is currently believed to be non-life threatening.

Deputies and investigators processed the scene and interviewed multiple witnesses who were present at the bowling center at the time of the incident. Preliminary findings indicate the shooting occurred outside in the parking lot and appears to be an isolated incident. At this time, one injury has been reported in connection with this event.

Sheriff Wayne Davis stated, “Any act of gun violence in our community is taken seriously. We are committed to thoroughly investigating this incident, holding those responsible accountable and ensuring the safety of our citizens. Incidents like this will not be tolerated, and our investigators will continue working diligently to determine exactly what occurred.”

Investigators have identified a person of interest; however, the name is not being released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
