
A man has been arrested for child abduction in Rockingham County. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were contacted on Monday in reference to a missing female juvenile from Memphis, Tn.
The female juvenile was reported missing on Sunday March 1, by her parents to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee. Deputies with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate the missing female juvenile at 3921 US 311 in Stoneville on Monday.
The juvenile was accompanied by 27-year-old male Dakota Wayne Vettor of the same address. The juvenile was questioned in regard to her being reported missing and the Rockingham County Department of Social Services was contacted, as was the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office. The juvenile was placed into the custody of the Rockingham County Department of Social Services until the parents of the juvenile could come pick their daughter up.
Vettor was interviewed and was later charged with Felony Abduction of Children and placed in the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility under no bond. Dakota Wayne Vettor is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on March 10, 2026, at 8:55 am. This matter is still under investigation at this time by both the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee. More charges are expected.
