One person was arrested after a shooting in Henry County on Friday. Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to 401 Rosewood Avenue in Martinsville, Virginia, in reference to a reported disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that a physical altercation had occurred between two parties. During the altercation, one of the involved parties was leaving the residence in a vehicle when a female resident discharged a firearm at the vehicle.

Through the course of the investigation, a firearm was recovered at the scene. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that 37-year-old Star Lenora Via was the individual who discharged the firearm at the vehicle.

Via was arrested and charged with maliciously shooting into an occupied vehicle, discharging a firearm within or at a building, and reckless handling of a firearm. Via is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
