A man is wanted in Halifax County following a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday. According to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, at 2 am on Sunday, deputies responded to the Acorn Road area in the northern part of Halifax County in reference to a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by North Halifax EMS and airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Lucas Markee Witcher is wanted on charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Witcher is 5’6, 200 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous.
