The National Weather Service in Blacksburg says there is an increased chance of fire danger today across the southside. The increased chance is in effect for Pittsylvania, Henry and Halifax Counties as well as the cities of Danville, Martinsville and South Boston.

The combination of lower relative humidity values in the 20-30 percent range, dry fuels, and SW winds gusting to 20-30 mph will result in an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires today.
